Mollie Davis Scholarship (Formerly Mary Monroe) (Yakima Rotary Trust) Scholarship (Local/Area) 2/22/2019 $7,500
Requirements:
  • US Citizen and Yakima County Resident
  • High School Senior or current college student
  • Planning to pursue a 2- or 4-year degree at an accredited college
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA

Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of financial need, academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, awards and honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.

Awards:

Recipients will receive an annual award of either $7,500 for a 4-year college or $3,000 for a 2-year college.  All scholarships may be renewed for additional years if requirements are met.

Yakima Rotary Trust has distributed over 5.4 million dollars in scholarships to over 301 students since the program began in 2010.

Washington Apple Education Foundation Scholarship (WA) 3/1/2019 Varies
Requirements:

The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) is the charity of the tree fruit industry. Our mission is to impact lives through access to educational opportunities. WAEF scholarships assist college bound students raised in tree fruit districts attend college.

  • Many of the scholarships are for students with family in the Tree Fruit industry or planning to enter the tree fruit industry, however some are open to all students.  Students fill out a single application to be considered for all scholarships for which they are qualified.
  • In addition, WAEF is adding a special scholarship application for students pursuing Trade/Technical school or community college.  If this describes you, WAEF recommends filling out BOTH applications.
Awards:

Awards vary from $500 to several thousand dollars.  100+ students from Yakima County received awards in 2015-16.

Young Women in Public Affairs (Zonta Club) Scholarship (Local/Area) 3/1/2019 $2,000
Requirements:

Zonta Club is a group with a local chapter in Yakima; they are committed to advancing the status of women worldwide.  They will be looking to award a senior girl who has a strong record of community service and leadership and is aware of women's social issues on a local and global scale.  You must also make yourself aware of the Zonta International Club and its activities.

Awards:

$2,000 will be awarded to one senior girl in the Yakima Valley, with the potential for another $1,000 awarded at the regional level.

WIAA Smart Choices Scholarship Scholarship (WA) 4/1/2019 $1,000-$5,000
Requirements:

The Dairy Farmers of Washington and Les Schwab Tires in conjunction with the WIAA proudly present the Smart Choices Scholarship Program.  This annual program recognizes one male and one female graduating senior from among the WIAA member high schools for excellence in athletics/activities, academics, leadership and community service throughout his and her high school career.  

Applicant must be a consumer of real dairy products and not opposed to dairy product production or practices based on social or personal choice regarding animal welfare or nutritional beliefs.

In addition to a series of background questions, each applicant will be required to write a <250 word essay or provide a personal statement video about “How you plan to use your education to benefit others.” 

The judging criteria is based on:

35% athletic/activity excellence,
35% percent academic achievement,
15% percent leadership,
10% percent citizenship/community service, and
5% on originality/creativity of the student’s essay or video.

Awards:

One male student and one female student will receive a $5,000 scholarship toward the institution of his or her choosing. 
An additional four (4) male and four (4) female finalists receive $1,000 scholarships.

NWCCF Careers that Work! Scholarship (Northwest Region) 6/1/2019 $1,000
Requirements:

 Each year, every high school in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington (public and private)are given five $1000 tuition scholarships to award to graduating students headed to one of the participating career colleges.

The most common participating college our students attend is Perry Technical Institute.
