Where are you from? I was raised in Exeter, California. A tiny town in the foothills of Tulare County that is known for orange groves, murals and antique shops.
What was your school like growing up? I attended Exeter Public Schools K-12. It was a blessing to grow up and graduate high school with friends that I made in Kindergarten. I went to Fresno Pacific University for my undergraduate and credential program in Elementary Education. After attending a Christian university, I wished I would have had the opportunity to have a Christian based education throughout my formative years. I am thankful for the educational opportunities I’ve been blessed with and know that God has been guiding me through it all.
Why do you like teaching first grade? First Grade will be a new adventure because I’ve been teaching Kindergarten for the last 7 years. I love working with little ones because they are just so excited to learn! Their energy and enthusiasm for school is catching and I’m looking forward to teaching them more about the beautiful world God has created for us. It’s going to be a great year!
What do you like to do when you aren’t teaching? I love to cook and bake for family and friends. I enjoy reading, photography, camping and vacationing in Idaho. I am happiest when I’m outside enjoying the beautiful weather of the PNW.
What’s your favorite Bible verse and why? I don't know if I can pick just one verse, however Psalm 84 is my favorite chapter. I remember reading through it for the first time after a close friend's funeral when I was 16 and it has always been a comfort and refuge to me knowing that no matter what the day may bring, “Better is one day in your courts, than a thousand elsewhere”. It’s also my favorite worship song and on my first Sunday at CRC, the worship team began to sing this song and I knew that God had brought me to my church home.
What’s your favorite snack? Dark chocolate and strong coffee.
