Mr. Gorter is involved with several activities at school besides teaching mathematics, physics, and computers. The past five summers he led climbs of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Si, and Mt. Aix with groups of students, teachers, and parents. He has also organized Trig Star compititions for several years, as well as an occasional bookclub with students and teachers. Along with teaching, Mr. Gorter enjoys backpacking, camping, running, and reading. He also teaches at Heritage University twice a week. His favorite activity, however, is spending time at home with his wife Tammy and four children: Heidi (6), Isaac (4), Hannah (3), and Hilary (1).
