Mr. Gorter is involved with several activities at school besides teaching mathematics and computers. The past four summers he led climbs of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Si, and Mt. Aix with groups of students, teachers, and parents. He has also organized Math League and Trig Star compititions for several years, as well as an occasional bookclub with students and teachers.
Besides teaching, Mr. Gorter also enjoys backpacking, camping, running, and reading. Mr. Gorter also teaches at Heritage University in the late afternoon twice a week. His favorite activity, however, is spending time at home with his wife Tammy and four children: Heidi (4), Isaac (3), Hannah (1), and "Junior" (-1).
