Looking Forward to the U
Life is always changing, and we are often forced to try new things. When we decided to start a blog for Sunnyside Christian School, I asked what I should write. The comments that came back to me were to write “whatever you want.” I now know how so many of our students feel at school when they encounter something new and do not know how to tackle the challenges ahead of them.
In just a few weeks we are expecting about 300 kids (pre-school-12th grade) to enter our doors. I have to confess that I love summer and all the things that go with it (like many kids do), but there is nothing like the first day of school! This day is always full of emotions – excitement, nerves, joy, and sorrow for those kids who have a hard time leaving mom – but at the end of the day there is always a sense of joy with re-uniting the SCS community after summer break.
In my devotions today, I read the story of how Joshua was fighting the Amalekites, and as long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning. However, when his hands lowered, the Amalekites were winning (Exodus 17). The passage goes on to explain that Aaron and Hur came alongside Moses, and when his arms became too tired to keep his hand up, they helped him.
Today, I ask the same from you. Please help us keep our hands up so we can “win” this battle – and experience the success God has planned for us. You can help us with your prayers. We will likely never get accolades for our prayers, and it may seem like the responses to our prayers tests our patience. But we know that God is going to use our kids in amazing and unlikely ways to build His Kingdom. Partner with us; pray with us; and pray for us.
See you in a few weeks!
